SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Preparing for College and Careers at Crispus Attucks High School will be responsible for instruction and supervision of students across all academic programs. This position introduces students to careers compatible with their academic skills, aptitudes, and life goals, while preparing them for postsecondary success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching experience in a high school or technical school setting is preferred.

Any grades five through 12 secondary educators who hold valid Indiana licensure (i.e., instructional, administrator, counselor) or Workplace Specialist license

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide detailed and regular feedback to students and parents on student achievement, attendance, and discipline.
• Maintain student files, training records, and reports concerning student certifications.
• Plan and deliver curriculum in a highly engaging classroom setting.
• Maintain and enter all required data for student grades, attendance, and discipline.
• Create and maintain a positive learning environment for students.
• Prepare lesson plans and resources aligned to Indiana Department of Education pathway standards.
• Maintain and inventory all service tools, equipment, and technology.
• Collaborate with other CTE instructors, specialists, and administrators.
• Follow building and district rules and procedures.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Career Academy Coordinator.

On a typical day, the Preparing for College and Career teacher may:

Facilitate interactive lessons on postsecondary options, career clusters, and workplace expectations.

Guide students through career interest and aptitude assessments, helping them analyze and reflect on results.

Organize guest speaker sessions, employer panels, and career exploration field trips.

Assist students in creating or refining resumes, cover letters, and digital portfolios.

Provide individual and group feedback on academic progress and skill development tied to career goals.

Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and community partners to connect students with internships, job-shadowing, and dual-credit opportunities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must hold a valid Indiana State Teachers License in Elementary Education (K-6). Must be deemed Highly Qualified in accordance with the Indiana Department of Education
