The Applied Technology & Culinary Arts Department at Long Beach Community College District is a seeking a skilled and motivated professional to join our team as a Vocational Technician - Sheet Metal. This is a classified technical support position, not a teaching or adjunct faculty role. These incumbents will need to have knowledge of advanced sheet metal fabrication and welding processes, methods and techniques. Additionally, we are looking for someone who has obtained an Associates degree in sheet metal fabrication or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in metal shop fabrication and welding experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, provides vocational instruction support in the sheet metals trades program. Prepares equipment, materials, supplies and training aids for classroom instruction and student laboratory assignments. Provides instruction and assists students in the proper use and operation of shop equipment. Maintains a clean, safe and orderly learning environment, and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Vocational Technician - Sheet Metal is responsible for assisting in maintaining and operating the District's sheet metal shop and supporting the instructional program. The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of support functions to assist faculty in the general operation of the sheet metal instructional program. The incumbent supervises the work of assigned work study students. Work assigned requires a detailed knowledge of subject areas applicable to the specific trades program and the ability to provide instruction to others in an effective manner.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
An Associates degree in sheet metal fabrication or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in metal shop fabrication and welding experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
