Coordinator of Volunteers - Hospice (Full-Time) | Capital Region

Join a Mission-Driven Team Making a Difference

The Community Hospice is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Volunteers (COV) to join our dedicated hospice team in the Capital Region. This rewarding role is responsible for the recruitment, training, coordination, and support of hospice volunteers who provide compassionate assistance to patients and families throughout their hospice journey.

As a Coordinator of Volunteers, you will build and sustain a strong volunteer program while serving as an integral member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team. You will work closely with patients, families, volunteers, and clinical staff to enhance the quality of care and support provided across our service area.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, orient, and place hospice volunteers within the assigned region.
  • Provide ongoing education, supervision, support, and evaluation of volunteer staff.
  • Meet with patients and families to introduce volunteer services and assess support needs.
  • Match volunteers with appropriate patient, family, and agency opportunities.
  • Function as a member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team, participating in care planning and team meetings.
  • Educate staff regarding the effective and appropriate utilization of volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations and referral sources.
  • Assist with volunteer recognition activities and ongoing volunteer engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with hospice regulations and organizational policies related to volunteer services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with at least one year of experience coordinating or administering a volunteer program; or Associate degree with five years of experience administering a comprehensive volunteer program.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting educational programs to groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Administrative experience planning, implementing, and managing volunteer programs preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Pay range: $20.20-$30.30

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
