Purpose of Position – The Volunteer Coordinator will lead the volunteer program at Imagine! by building, developing, and retaining a robust team of volunteers and community partners. This role recruits, onboards, places, and supports volunteers in meaningful opportunities that strengthen programs and advance Imagine!s mission of creating a world of opportunity for all abilities. The position will work collaboratively across the organization.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Recruitment & Placement
Partners with program leaders to assess volunteer needs and identify opportunities to increase quality of services with volunteers.
Assists in creating role descriptions.
Recruits, screens and interviews candidates ensuring compliance with background check and onboarding requirements.
Matches volunteers to roles that suit their skills and interests.
Training & Orientation
Designs and provides orientation to programs and ensures volunteers complete required agency training.
Develops education materials to prepare volunteers for their roles.
Ensures volunteers understand responsibilities, safety protocols, and organizational values.
Supervision & Support
Serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers, fostering strong relationships and a culture of appreciation and belonging.
Collaborates with program supervisors to monitor volunteer performance, provides guidance, and addresses any issues or conflicts.
Maintainsaccuratevolunteerrecords,databases,schedules, hours, and other documentationinaccordancewithagencystandards.
Creates a volunteer recognition program in alignment with the agency’s core values.
Builds and maintains relationships within the community to source candidates and organizations to meet needs of the volunteer program.
Represents Imagine! in the community, promoting volunteerism and strengthening awareness of the organization's mission and impact.
Evaluating & Reporting
Evaluates program effectiveness making recommendations for and implements improvements in coordination of the Assistant Director of Community Partners.
Prepares reports, maintains records, and communicates outcomes to management or stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels.
Effective and creative problem solver.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks for self and others.
Ability to work effectively with various technologies including word processing software, internet-based databases, assistive technology, etc.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements.
This position requires regular use of a personal mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
Training/Education:
High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
At least 1-year previous experience in administrative, community relations, or recruiting experience preferred.
6 months or more of supervision experience preferred.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Ability to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines.
Work is performed in a variety of environments including a typical office setting and in the community.
