World of Little League® Volunteer Museum Tour Ambassador Program

The World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team of volunteer Tour Ambassadors. Ideal applicants include retired educators, college students, or anyone with a passion for history and/or Little League® Baseball and Softball. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity and is flexible based on availability throughout the week. Peak season is from April through October. Acceptance into the Museum Tour Ambassador Program is contingent upon successful completion of all applicable background checks.

The mission of the World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum is to inform and educate visitors about the history, service, goals, and global impact of Little League® Baseball and Softball. Through the careful curation of artifacts and archival materials from the world's largest organized youth sports program, the museum presents engaging and educational exhibits for visitors of all ages. Since opening in 1982, the World of Little League Museum® has welcomed tens of thousands of guests annually and continues to serve as a hub for research, education, and inspiration.

ROLE OF A VOLUNTEER MUSEUM TOUR AMBASSADOR

The volunteer Museum Tour Ambassador will assist in providing engaging, entertaining, informative, and accurate guided experiences for museum and Little League Complex visitors in conjunction with our full-time Museum staff. In this role, volunteers support the museum's educational mission by fostering visitor engagement, maintaining group organization, and upholding Little League's standards for professionalism, safety, inclusion, and exceptional service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Welcome guests in a friendly, inclusive, and professional manner
  • Arrive 15-20 minutes prior to scheduled tours to allow for tour briefings and possible early buses. (most tours are between 2-3 hours of volunteer time)
  • Assist with conducting guided tours at the World of Little League Museum and the Little League Complex
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate, and educational experiences
  • Answer guest questions accurately and confidently
  • Assist with special events and after-hours programs as needed
  • Stay on schedule and keep tours moving at a comfortable pace.
  • Follow all Little League volunteer policies regarding conduct, dress, and safety
  • Be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Background in education or history preferred but not required.
  • Public speaking or presentation experience preferred.
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Some availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Successful completion of background checks and required LL trainings.
  • Must sign a code of conduct form.
  • Complete Little League history training session.
