BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Individual Placement Program Manager is a key position within the Maine Conservation Corps (MCC), responsible for managing a statewide AmeriCorps individual placement program focused on land and water conservation. This role works collaboratively with MCC staff and external partners to deliver impactful conservation service projects while supporting the professional growth, career pathways, and workforce readiness of AmeriCorps members. The Program Manager operates with a high degree of independence and is responsible for program development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with MCC's mission and AmeriCorps requirements.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:
  • Oversee and manage a statewide AmeriCorps individual placement program delivering up to 180 weeks of conservation service annually.
  • Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding of approximately 25-30 AmeriCorps members annually.
  • Develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies to attract diverse applicants and partners.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and performance evaluation.
  • Support the design and implementation of strategies that support members' career exploration and advancement in conservation and related fields.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive service environment that promotes personal and professional growth.
  • Provide or coordinate professional development opportunities such as resume building, networking, certifications, and job readiness training.
  • Support members in identifying career pathways and connecting with employment, education, and training opportunities.
  • Engage partner organizations in providing meaningful, skill-building experiences that align with workforce needs.
  • Promote program visibility through outreach, communications, and engagement efforts.
  • Monitor program performance and outcomes, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensure successful execution of land and water conservation projects in partnership with host sites.
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with federal, state, municipal, and nonprofit natural resource agencies.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage cooperative agreements and partnership documents.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between MCC and host site partners.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal AmeriCorps and state program regulations.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation and records.
  • Track and report program metrics and outcomes to stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A four (4) year combination of education and/or experience in organizing, supervising, and/or coordinating a volunteer program.

PREFERENCES:
  • Knowledge of conservation practices and natural resource management.
  • Experience with AmeriCorps or other national service programs.
  • Experience in workforce development, career counseling, or youth development programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, or support individuals in professional development.
  • Experience managing programs, project, or teams.
  • A Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, public administration, education, workforce development, or a related field or similar experience.
