Think Company is looking for a VP of Business Development who wins through genuine relationships, market presence, and the kind of long-game trust-building that creates lasting opportunities. This is a senior, high-agency role for a BD professional who's energized by real-world community engagement, which includes someone who knows their market, works their network with intention, and is ready to grow serious accounts from the ground up.
Quick Facts
- Location: Major metropolitan market, U.S. East Coast or Midwest preferred; active in-person presence in your local business community required
- Employment type: Full-time, Exempt
- Travel expectations: Regular presence at local events, dinners, and client meetings; occasional travel for Think Company gatherings
- Salary range: $115,000–$125,000 base + commission
What You'll Do
- Build net-new client relationships through proactive outreach, community presence, and your existing network: you're a hunter first, relationship-nurturer second
- Activate and systematically work Think Company's existing warm contact database (150+ high-signal relationships) to surface repeat engagements, referrals, and re-entry opportunities
- Show up in your market (events, dinners, lunches, and professional community gatherings) as an organic connector, not a booth rep
- Run intentional, sustained, AI-assisted outreach on LinkedIn and via email targeting director-level and above professionals in Think's Ideal Customer Profile, building visibility through genuine contribution to the conversation
- Manage the full deal process from relationship to close: prospecting, nurturing, wirting proposals and statements of work, negotiations, and client signature
- Grow accounts beyond the first engagement by partnering with delivery leads and strategic advisors to identify long-term opportunities within accounts you own
- Apply AI-assisted prospecting tools, including those within HubSpot and ZoomInfo, Claude/Gemini/Chat GPT, and custom tools Think has developed, to identify, prioritize, and personalize outreach at scale
What You Bring
- A strong, established network in and beyond your metro market and the energy to work it; you're genuinely excited by in-person relationship building, not just tolerant of it
- A deep background in one of the industries where Think Company has strong case studies and wants to grow: pharma/healthcare, financial services, telecom/utilities, or other regulated industries
- A track record of closing consultative B2B engagements in professional services, design, technology, or staffing: you've done this before and you have the relationships and results to show for it
- The ability to lead through influence rather than authority; you keep delivery teams focused on the longer-term account goal, bring in the right experts at the right moments, and treat sales as a team sport
- Deep enough familiarity with digital product design and technology services to speak credibly with senior stakeholders: you don't need to be a practitioner, but you need to understand the work
- Strong communication and presence, as you read the room, tailor your message, and know when to listen
- Comfort with CRM tools and data-driven pipeline management; experience with HubSpot or similar platforms
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience selling design, UX, digital transformation, or staffing/dedicated team engagements
- Background working in or alongside a consulting or agency environment
- Experience with AI-powered sales tools
About Working at Think Company
Think Company is a design and technology consultancy that helps organizations solve meaningful problems through thoughtful strategy, design, and delivery.
You'll work with smart, kind people across disciplines and industries while gaining opportunities to grow your skills, expand your influence, and shape how we work.
We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing opportunities for learning and development.
How We Work
We collaborate primarily remotely, with intentional in-person time for company gatherings and client needs. Our teams balance autonomy with partnership, and we believe great work comes from trust, transparency, and shared ownership.
AI is becoming a foundational part of how we work at Think Company. Team members are expected to use AI tools regularly and responsibly, stay curious about advancements, and participate in training and enablement as part of their growth.
One thing that sets this role apart: you own your accounts. Think Company doesn't hand relationships off to a separate account management team after the first sale. You build it, you grow it, with the full support of delivery leads, strategic advisors, and a sales enablement function behind you.
