Title: VP Credit Officer, Middle Market LBO

Office Status: Hybrid New York, NY

Base Salary: $143k - $185k + Discretionary bonus

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a Vice President-level credit officer opportunity within the Credit Department of a large, internationally recognized financial institution, sitting in the second line of defense with direct coverage of Middle Market LBO transactions and Non-Investment Grade Large Cap leveraged lending. The role offers a high-volume, high-visibility platform with exposure to complex capital structures, leveraged finance, and ABL transactions making it an exceptional fit for a seasoned credit professional who wants to work at the intersection of rigorous underwriting and strategic deal influence. Candidates with formal credit training and prior US regulatory interaction will find this role particularly compelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and challenge credit applications submitted by the front office, conducting thorough analysis of obligor credit risk, projections, deal structure, facility terms, US regulatory classification, profitability, and relationship strategy
  • Prepare and present written executive summaries and credit recommendations to Credit Department senior management for Middle Market LBO and Non-Investment Grade Large Cap transactions
  • Engage with front office teams during due diligence and structuring phases to identify key credit risks, challenge assumptions, and address concerns prior to formal credit submission
  • Coordinate the end-to-end credit approval process, serving as the primary liaison between front office business units and Credit Department management
  • Provide ongoing guidance and feedback to business units to ensure adherence to internal credit policies, procedures, and US regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and supervise problem assets including classified loans, preparing written memoranda and reports for management review
  • Contribute to portfolio reviews, loan reviews, pass/watch designations, and special credit reviews as needed
  • Stay current on relevant regulations, leveraged lending guidelines, and industry best practices to ensure all credit applications meet regulatory standards
  • Manage a significant deal volume in a fast-paced, multitasking environment while maintaining quality and accuracy in all credit deliverables
  • Support other credit-related projects and initiatives as assigned by department leadership
