Job Description

Title: VP Credit Risk Officer, Private & Structured Credit

Office Status: Hybrid New York City

Base Salary: $160k $190k + Bonus

ABOUT THE ROLE

A globally active institutional platform is seeking a senior credit risk professional to join a lean, highly specialized team focused on opportunistic private credit and structured financing activity across the Americas. This is not a traditional leveraged finance, ABS, or portfolio monitoring seat. The role sits within an independent risk function but operates in close partnership with deal teams, offering meaningful influence on transaction design, structuring, and underwriting decisions.

The investment mandate is intentionally broad and creative spanning bespoke asset-backed opportunities, direct lending situations, specialty finance transactions, and unconventional collateral structures. Ideal candidates will bring strong private credit judgment, structuring capabilities, and comfort evaluating non-standard deals in fast-moving environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate and approve complex private credit, opportunistic lending, and bespoke financing transactions across a broad spectrum of asset classes and borrower profiles
  • Analyze non-traditional credit opportunities including direct lending, specialty finance, litigation-related structures, asset-backed transactions, and unique collateralized lending arrangements
  • Partner closely with deal origination teams as an independent credit authority while maintaining meaningful involvement in transaction structuring and commercial negotiations
  • Assess borrower fundamentals, collateral quality, cash flow durability, legal protections, downside scenarios, and structural mitigants across bespoke transactions
  • Influence deal architecture by providing active feedback on structuring mechanics, covenant frameworks, documentation terms, and risk allocation considerations
  • Prepare and present credit recommendations, internal approval materials, and risk assessments to senior stakeholders and governance forums
  • Lead or participate in borrower, sponsor, and counterparty diligence discussions, including management meetings and transaction reviews
  • Monitor approved exposures and evolving market conditions while proactively identifying risks, structural concerns, and portfolio developments
  • Work cross-functionally with business leadership, legal, finance, and broader control partners on transaction execution and strategic initiatives
  • Support development of junior team members within a collaborative, high-accountability team structure
