The Opportunity

The Vice President, Data Science is responsible for delivering and scaling enterprise data science, machine learning, and AI solutions that support MetLife's strategic priorities and drive measurable business outcomes across the global enterprise.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the advancement of cutting-edge AI capabilities (including synthetic data, anomaly detection, and small language models) while translating strategy into scalable, production-ready solutions that enable data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of data science, machine learning, and AI use cases across key business domains, from problem definition through deployment and monitoring.
• Partner with business and regional leaders to prioritize and execute high-value AI and data science initiatives that drive growth, profitability, and efficiency.
• Establish and scale enterprise data science platforms and MLOps capabilities in partnership with data engineering and platform teams.
• Build and lead a Data Science Center of Excellence to define standards, best practices, and reusable assets for AI and model development.
• Ensure responsible AI practices by aligning with governance, privacy, legal, and risk standards, including oversight of model performance, fairness, and compliance

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field.
• Significant experience delivering data science, machine learning, and AI solutions in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into scalable data science solutions and actionable insights with measurable business impact.
• Proven people leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills within large, complex enterprise environments.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $280000 - $320000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
