ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a Vice President-level Loan Workout opportunity within the Risk Management function of a leading global investment bank, sitting alongside an existing workout team with cross-product coverage spanning the firm's full lending portfolio. This is an add-to-staff hire reflecting the firm's continued growth and expanding need for dedicated distressed credit and resolution expertise. The role carries meaningful decision-making authority leading workout strategies, restructuring negotiations, and recovery execution on criticized and non-performing exposures while contributing to credit policy and risk appetite frameworks. It's an ideal fit for a seasoned workout professional who combines strong credit fundamentals with hands-on restructuring experience and thrives in a complex, multi-product environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead independent credit assessments and workout strategies for criticized, classified, and non-performing exposures across all product types including structured finance, project finance, FIG, and corporate credit
  • Provide detailed obligor analysis including financial performance review, collateral assessment, key risk factor identification, and recommendation documentation for final credit and resolution decisions
  • Validate Obligor Risk Ratings, Basel 4 parameters (LGDs), loss estimates, and other key financial metrics for distressed credits
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of portfolio credit quality including quarterly reviews, early detection of deteriorating credits, and active participation in watch list review processes
  • Lead and support negotiations with borrowers, guarantors, and third parties;partner with internal and external legal counsel on restructurings, forbearance agreements, enforcement actions, bankruptcy proceedings, and recoveries
  • Track credit and market trends relevant to distressed credit across bank, bond, and private credit markets
  • Assist the Portfolio Management and Governance team in preparing distressed credit reporting for senior risk management and regulators
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the bank's credit policy guidelines, workout procedures, and overall risk appetite framework
  • Participate in setting global risk appetite for distressed and watch list exposures and assess new business initiatives from a workout and recovery risk perspective
