Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Finance / Division CFO will direct and oversee all financial activities of the Electrical Division of Electra USA, comprising Hellman Electric and Gilston Electric. This executive will lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and summaries, develop forecasts that support growth planning, and ensure robust financial controls across percentage-of-completion project accounting, budgeting, and reporting. The role partners closely with the Divisional leadership team and reports to the Chief Financial Officer of the Electra USA, providing strategic financial insight that enables operational excellence and sustainable expansion in the highly competitive New York metropolitan electrical construction market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct the preparation of all Electrical Division financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports for Hellman Electric and Gilston Electric.
  • Prepare and review monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, cost-to-complete forecasts, gross profit analyses, and backlog reporting across the Electrical Division.
  • Manage percentage-of-completion accounting and ensure billings are properly aligned with actual project progress and earned revenue recognition.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs across all active electrical jobs and contracts.
  • Oversee the annual and periodic budget preparation process and support internal and external audit functions for the Electrical Division.
  • Compare budgeted revenue, profit, and expense projections against actual results; identify variances and drive necessary adjustments to future forecasts and operating budgets.
  • Partner with the Divisional Head and senior executives to support strategic planning, establish financial priorities, and evaluate investment and growth opportunities for the Electrical Division.
  • Handle day-to-day financial matters related to insurance and bonding, joint ventures, claims, and legal issues, coordinating closely with Corporate Finance and Legal teams.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff; evaluate and upgrade financial systems and software (including Vista by Viewpoint) to improve efficiency and controls.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Group CFO or senior leadership.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Ten to fifteen years of progressive experience in financial management, with significant exposure to electrical construction or electromechanical contracting preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and interpreting financial reports including P&L statements, balance sheets, Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, and project cost reports.
  • Proven management and supervisory skills with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in database and accounting systems; strong preference for experience with Vista by Viewpoint or comparable construction ERP platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • Direct experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, bonding, joint ventures, and construction claims management in the electrical contracting sector.
  • Prior leadership experience within a multi-entity or subsidiary structure reporting to a parent/group CFO.
  • Familiarity with New York City and tri-state electrical construction market practices, union labor, and prevailing wage environments.
