Head of MarketingDamco Solutions · USA/Canada · Full-time · 15+ years experience
The brief
You will own and lead marketing at Damco — brand, demand, content, category marketing, design, inbound, outbound, and events. All marketing team leads report to you.
You will be responsible for leading the repositioning of Damco from an IT services company to an AI transformation partner — and for building a brand the industry recognizes us by.
Most IT services brands sound identical — the same three adjectives, the same stock photography, the same promise of trusted digital transformation. We are looking for someone who understands why that happens and has a defensible point of view on how to break out of it. That point of view is most of what we are looking for.
This role sits at the intersection of technology and marketing. You can credibly reposition a company around AI only by understanding what the technology actually does, where it breaks, and what separates a real capability from a slide deck. You will be marketing to technical buyers who can tell the difference. Deep technical understanding and the ability to convert it into a story a buyer feels is a core requirement.
What you'll own
- The function — teams, leads, structure, hiring, budget, and the number
- The brand — positioning, narrative, voice, and visual system; foundations inherited in flight and made real in the market
- The channel strategy — the mix and the bets. You decide where we concentrate, and you defend it.
- Demand and pipeline — brand drives demand, demand validates brand; treated as one system
- The team leads — Content, Category Marketing, Design, Inbound, Outbound
What success looks like
- The market understands Damco as an AI transformation partner, not another IT services vendor
- The buyers we want (CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, VPs of Engineering) know us before sales calls
- Qualified pipeline traceable to work marketing built, and a brand that makes those conversations easier
- Performance is visible in the numbers. Clear KPIs at every stage — brand, demand, and channel — reported honestly and reviewed on a fixed rhythm. Decisions are made on the data, and you can show what each investment returned.
- A marketing team that ships fast, ships on-brand, and is led well enough that the best people stay
What you'll do
- Own the marketing strategy end-to-end and stand behind it with leadership
- Take the brand foundations from draft to lived reality — every campaign, page, and deck carrying the same voice and look
- Work closely with delivery and the AI and engineering leads, and with customers, so you can market what Damco builds truthfully to a technical buyer
- Lead and develop the team leads — coach, hold a bar, and restructure when the org chart is fighting the work
- Balance the brand build against the pipeline number without trading either off cheaply
- Report honestly on what is working, what is not, and what you are changing
What you bring
- 15+ years in marketing, with substantial time in B2B — tech, SaaS, IT services, or an adjacent considered purchase. You understand how enterprise buying committees decide.
- Deep technical understanding. You can hold your own on AI, cloud, data, modernization, and security — with our engineers as readily as with a buyer — and turn that understanding into a story that lands, losing neither the truth nor the audience.
- A track record of impact you can name. A brand you built or transformed, a category you moved into, awareness and pipeline you can evidence.
- A channel point of view. You have run, or owned the strategy across, brand campaigns, events and field, LinkedIn, content, ABM, paid, and SEO — with a clear opinion on where to concentrate and where not to play.
- Brand credentials. Positioning, narrative architecture, voice, visual identity — built or led by you, not briefed to an agency and approved.
- Team leadership. You have hired, coached, restructured, and performance-managed marketers and their managers.
- Creativity as a centre of gravity. You believe craft and brand are the differentiator in a category where the offerings sound the same, and you have the work to prove you think that way.
Bonus
- You have marketed IT services or enterprise software specifically
- You have placed an early, contrarian channel bet — events, community, a signature program — and made it pay
- You have marketed to CIOs, CTOs, or CISOs and know how the message shifts across them
- You have a public footprint — talks, writing, a point of view the market knows you for.
