Title: Vice President, Balance Sheet Risk and Treasury Oversight

ABOUT THE ROLE

A well-capitalized global financial institution is seeking a VP-level risk professional to join its Treasury Risk team in New York. The group operates within the second line of defense, providing independent oversight of interest rate risk and mark-to-market exposures across a complex, multi-entity balance sheet. This is a senior individual contributor role with real influence over risk frameworks and direct engagement with executive stakeholders and regulators. The team is growing and the function is evolving, which means there is meaningful room to shape how the work gets done rather than simply inheriting someone else's approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead independent oversight of interest rate risk in the banking book and portfolio mark-to-market exposures across regional entities
• Review and challenge key risk metrics including EVE and NII sensitivities, as well as the hedging strategies used to manage those exposures
• Assess balance sheet positioning and treasury strategies from a risk and return perspective, providing credible independent perspective
• Evaluate and challenge risk methodologies, modeling frameworks, assumptions, and system configurations used across the first line
• Drive enhancements to second line oversight frameworks, governance processes, and risk reporting tools
• Partner with first line treasury teams to understand business strategies and ensure appropriate and current risk coverage
• Prepare and present risk analysis and oversight findings to senior management and internal risk committees
• Monitor risk limits and ensure timely escalation of breaches, limit exceptions, and emerging balance sheet risks
• Support regulatory interactions and maintain alignment with evolving supervisory expectations around interest rate and balance sheet risk
• Maintain robust process documentation and contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives across the function
