VP Investment Banking - Consumer & Retail

Citi is looking for an experienced Investment Banking Vice President to join our Consumer & Retail coverage team in New York, where you will serve as a trusted strategic advisor to clients navigating complex capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and other transformative financial events. In this senior role, you will lead client relationships and transaction execution end-to-end, working in close coordination with Citi's Institutional Banking team to deliver high-impact advisory and financing solutions. Your work will directly shape how leading consumer and retail companies access capital, structure deals, and achieve their long-term financial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior strategic advisor to consumer and retail clients on capital markets transactions, including equity and debt offerings, guiding them through every phase from initial strategy through execution.
• Lead M&A and special situation advisory mandates, coordinating directly with clients, senior bankers, and external legal and financial advisors to drive successful deal outcomes.
• Manage the end-to-end execution of financing transactions by leading due diligence sessions, drafting processes, and client preparation for capital raises.
• Develop and deliver high-quality pitch materials, situation analyses, information memoranda, investor presentations, and management presentations that clearly communicate strategic recommendations.
• Originate and develop new client relationships and transaction opportunities, contributing directly to the growth of Citi's Consumer & Retail investment banking franchise.
• Oversee and mentor analysts and associates assigned to live transactions, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all work product.
• Serve as an intermediary in trading for clients, applying knowledge of capital markets products to facilitate client-driven transactions across equity, debt, and related instruments.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 6 to 10 years of experience in investment banking or a closely related financial services discipline, with direct involvement in capital markets or M&A advisory transactions.
• Deep knowledge of corporate banking products, capital markets, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade finance, and securities instruments as applied to large corporate clients.
• Demonstrated ability to lead financing and M&A transactions, including due diligence coordination, documentation, and client communication across all deal phases.
• Clear and precise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial analysis and strategic recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited university, or equivalent professional experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• MBA or Master's degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline, providing advanced grounding in financial strategy and corporate advisory.
• FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses current or the ability to obtain, supporting client-facing trading and advisory activities.
• Prior coverage experience within the consumer and retail sector, with an understanding of the competitive, regulatory, and capital structure dynamics relevant to the industry.
