Opportunity

A rapidly growing owner and operator of utility-scale renewable energy assets is seeking a Vice President of Renewable Operations & Maintenance to build and lead its renewable O&M platform.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced operations leader to establish the vision, structure, processes, and culture of a newly formed Renewable Operations organization. The successful candidate will have significant influence over operational strategy, organizational design, safety programs, maintenance practices, staffing, technology implementation, and long-term asset performance.

The role will partner closely with Development, Engineering & Construction, Asset Management, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams to support a growing portfolio of wind and solar projects while creating a scalable operational platform for future expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Build and lead the renewable operations and maintenance organization across a growing fleet of utility-scale assets.
  • Develop organizational structure, staffing plans, succession planning, and workforce development programs.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage site leadership and field operations personnel.
  • Establish a high-performance culture centered on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Operations & Maintenance Strategy

  • Develop and implement fleet-wide operations, maintenance, reliability, and outage management strategies.
  • Standardize operating procedures, maintenance practices, and performance expectations across all renewable facilities.
  • Drive asset reliability, availability, and production optimization initiatives.
  • Lead root-cause analysis efforts and implement corrective action programs to improve long-term asset performance.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Establish and maintain industry-leading environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, environmental, and operational requirements.
  • Develop operating procedures, training programs, emergency response plans, and safety management systems.
  • Champion a culture where safety is the highest operational priority.

Asset Performance & Technology

  • Leverage performance monitoring tools, analytics platforms, and CMMS technologies to optimize fleet performance.
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems to measure operational effectiveness and support executive decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, technology improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Asset Management, Finance, Commercial, Regulatory, and Development teams to maximize asset value and portfolio performance.
  • Support construction-to-operations transitions, commissioning, warranty management, and capital improvement programs.
  • Serve as a key representative with investors, lenders, OEMs, contractors, and other external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of power generation operations and maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing utility-scale renewable energy assets, conventional power generation assets, or a combination of both.
  • Proven success building, scaling, or transforming operations organizations.
  • Strong understanding of power plant operations, maintenance planning, reliability programs, and asset management principles.
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed teams and multiple operating sites.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, environmental programs, and industry safety standards.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing O&M budgets, contracts, and performance metrics.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, reliability programs, operational analytics, and performance reporting tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands-on leader who has successfully managed power generation assets and is excited by the opportunity to build an O&M organization from the ground up. This individual combines operational discipline, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills with a passion for developing people and creating scalable processes that drive long-term asset performance.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Build and lead a renewable operations platform from its early stages.
  • Direct influence on organizational strategy and growth.
  • Significant visibility with executive leadership.
  • Opportunity to shape the operating culture, team, and processes.
  • Growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy assets.
  • Strong compensation package with meaningful bonus opportunity and long-term career growth.
