VP of Accounting

Location: New York, NY (Full-Time, In-Office)
Salary: $225K+ Benefits 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Accounting to lead the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This role will partner closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights, strengthen controls, and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee General Ledger, AP, AR, job costing, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, statements, and analysis.
  • Lead audits, compliance initiatives, and financial risk management.
  • Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Manage payroll accounting and related reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, investors, and financial institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA preferred; MBA or Master’s in Accounting a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership/management experience.
  • Strong preference for experience in real estate, property management, multifamily, commercial, or mixed-use portfolios.
  • Experience with NYC real estate accounting, CAM reconciliations, property-level financials, lease accounting, and multi-entity accounting strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing month-end close, audits, budgeting, and accounting teams.
