Vice President of Human Resources

Bergen County, NJ | On-Site Leadership Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Human Resources to lead the organization's people function and serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. This role offers the opportunity to influence workforce strategy, strengthen employee engagement, and help shape a high-performing, collaborative culture.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who is comfortable engaging with senior executives, managing complex employee relations matters, and building strong partnerships across a diverse workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's senior HR leader, advising executives on workforce strategy, talent initiatives, and organizational effectiveness

  • Direct all areas of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and people programs

  • Lead efforts to attract, develop, and retain top talent across the organization

  • Guide the resolution of sensitive workplace issues, investigations, and employee concerns

  • Partner with legal advisors and leadership teams on employment-related matters and risk management

  • Oversee retirement, leave, workers' compensation, and employee benefit programs

  • Develop and implement people-focused initiatives that enhance engagement, collaboration, and organizational performance

  • Lead and mentor HR staff while driving continuous improvement across HR operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 10+ years of progressive human resources leadership experience

  • Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and influence business decisions

  • Strong background in employee relations, investigations, compliance, and benefits administration

  • Experience working closely with legal counsel on employment matters

  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills

  • Public sector experience highly preferred

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus

Work Location

  • Based primarily at the client's Bergen County headquarters

  • Regular on-site presence is required

  • Candidates must reside in New Jersey or be willing to establish New Jersey residency within one year

  • Reliable transportation is necessary due to limited public transit accessibility

The client offers medical, dental, company paid holidays, 12 days of PTO, 15 sick days, and 3 personal days.

Pay Details: $130,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
