Our client is a private equity-backed company composed of 10+ brands. They're a trusted online leader in custom manufactured marketing and branding materials that help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) drive growth. They have an incredible culture, a rockstar leadership team, and an all-hands-on-deck philosophy with an emphasis on teamwork. They are seeking a VP of Sales to lead and transform their sales organization from a reactive, order-taking function into a proactive, metrics-driven growth engine.
Rather than simply managing to the client’s existing revenue base, this leader will build the KPIs, accountability, and account-development strategy needed to help scale the business meaningfully over the next several years, while preserving profitability. The ideal candidate will bring strong sales leadership and team-development experience, a highly analytical and KPI-driven approach, and comfort managing a distributed team that spans onshore and international operations.
This is primarily a remote role, but candidates must be comfortable working Pacific Time hours, and afternoon (PST) availability is required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and transform the sales organization from a reactive, order-taking model into a proactive, growth-oriented function
- Establish clear KPIs, activity metrics, and performance expectations across the sales team
- Build a stronger culture of accountability, urgency, and measurable activity throughout the organization
- Drive strategic growth of existing and warm accounts, including cross-selling, retention, and reactivation of lapsed customers
- Bring greater structure and discipline to the sales process and CRM usage, including defined expectations around customer outreach and follow-through
- Assess the current sales organization and make recommendations on people, structure, and headcount, including the right balance between onshore and international resources
- Manage and develop a team of approximately seven direct reports, spanning account management, regional sales, and analytics functions
- Partner closely with an established international team, continuing to develop its capabilities and expand its role within the sales organization
- Set the strategic direction to meaningfully grow revenue over the next several years while maintaining profitability
- Coach and develop existing team members rather than defaulting to traditional outbound hunter hires
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support account growth and customer relationship management
- Report on sales performance, pipeline health, and account development progress to executive leadership
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, required
- 10-15+ years of proven sales leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and develop sales teams
- Highly numbers- and KPI-driven, with a track record of implementing sales metrics, CRM discipline, and activity management
- Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable operating at the tactical level
- Experience managing distributed teams, including onshore and international operations
- Comfortable assessing an existing organization, identifying gaps, and driving meaningful change
- Ability to create a culture of accountability and urgency without relying on a heavy-handed or overly transactional sales approach
- Experience growing revenue through account expansion, retention, and reactivation of an existing customer base, rather than solely new-business hunting
- Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to balance growth goals against profitability
- Experience scaling a sales organization, ideally in a business with a substantial existing customer base
- Background in sales leadership, account management leadership, or customer service leadership with strong commercial responsibility
Compensation: Targeting a base salary of $220-$250k (DOE), plus bonus and potential equity
