Position Overview
A well-established and growing diesel-powered generator dealership is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Sales to lead the company's sales organization, drive revenue growth, and strengthen its position within the commercial and industrial power generation market.
This executive will provide strategic and operational leadership for the sales function, with responsibility for developing the company's go-to-market strategy, expanding key customer relationships, improving sales execution, and building a high-performing, accountable sales organization.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in diesel-powered generators, standby and prime power systems, distributed power, or a closely related equipment dealership environment. This individual must understand both the technical and commercial complexities of selling power generation equipment and solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the company's sales organization.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies designed to drive sustainable revenue and market-share growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop sales managers and sales professionals while creating clear expectations for performance and accountability.
  • Establish measurable sales goals, KPIs, forecasting processes, and pipeline-management standards.
  • Evaluate existing sales territories, customer segmentation, compensation plans, and account coverage strategies.
  • Expand relationships with key commercial, industrial, institutional, contractor, engineering, and end-user customers.
  • Identify opportunities to grow equipment sales, replacement business, project-based sales, and long-term customer relationships.
  • Build stronger coordination between Sales, Service, Parts, Project Management, Operations, and executive leadership.
  • Participate in major customer presentations, contract negotiations, and strategic account development.
  • Ensure the sales organization effectively communicates the technical and financial value of the company's power generation solutions.
  • Monitor competitive activity, pricing, market conditions, and emerging opportunities within the power generation industry.
  • Improve CRM utilization, pipeline visibility, forecasting accuracy, and sales-process discipline.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing sales talent as the organization continues to grow.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and contribute to broader company strategy and growth initiatives.
Preferred Experience
  • Significant sales leadership experience within the power generation industry.
  • Strong preference for experience with a generator dealership, engine distributor, power systems organization, or OEM-related sales operation.
  • Knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator systems, standby power, prime power, and commercial or industrial power applications.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing multi-person or multi-market sales organizations.
  • Proven ability to drive organic revenue growth and improve sales execution.
  • Experience developing strategic and key-account relationships.
  • Strong understanding of complex equipment, engineered-product, and project-based sales cycles.
  • Experience working collaboratively with service, parts, operations, engineering, and project-management teams.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including pricing, margins, forecasting, and sales compensation.
  • Executive-level communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
