Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Vice President of Talent and Workforce Experience (VP of TWE) for a leading nonprofit organization with more than 3,000 employees across Long Island, NY. The VP of TWE will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and play a central role in shaping a workplace culture that fosters inclusion, growth, accountability, and excellence. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Plainview/Brookville, NY, with occasional travel to additional office locations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Vice President of Talent and Workforce Experience is a senior leadership position overseeing all areas of Human Resources for a multi-site organization. This role manages a large HR team and provides strategic leadership across talent acquisition, workforce engagement, professional development, benefits, labor relations, compliance, and HR systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective and efficient operation of Human Resources, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, professional development, compensation, benefits, HR systems, and labor relations.
  • Lead strategies to attract, retain, and engage qualified employees across diverse business lines and roles.
  • Direct the design and delivery of professional development programs that support performance, career growth, and advancement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive engagement and recognition initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness of all employee benefits programs.
  • Manage employee and labor relations in alignment with organizational values and legal requirements, implementing proactive risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with executive leadership and Board members on organizational strategic planning and progress toward goals.
  • Collaborate with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion leaders to embed inclusive practices across the workforce.
  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, advising on HR strategy and organizational priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional HR credential (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR) required.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources, including supervisory responsibility.
  • Experience in health, disability services, or human service organizations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple HR disciplines, including recruitment, employee engagement, benefits, labor relations, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to design, lead, and evaluate organization-wide initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms, data analytics, and Microsoft 365.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with a record of meeting deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits:
