VP, Pre-Construction

A well-established and rapidly growing specialty contractor is seeking an experienced Vice President of Pre-Construction to lead and elevate its pre-construction operations. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee a high-performing team while driving strategy, innovation, and profitability on complex commercial construction projects. Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Pre-Construction Managers, Technical Pre-Construction Managers, and Estimators.
• Oversee all aspects of the preconstruction process, including conceptual design, budgeting, estimating, engineering coordination, scheduling, and proposal development.
• Partner with Business Development to help secure new projects through client presentations, proposal strategy, and contract negotiations.
• Drive project profitability by optimizing design solutions, engineering, project planning, and procurement strategies.
• Coordinate internal resources including estimating, engineering, drafting, and design teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders throughout the preconstruction phase.
• Ensure seamless handoff of awarded projects to construction teams with accurate budgets, schedules, and procurement completed.
• Provide executive oversight of project financial performance, risk management, quality, and safety initiatives.
• Develop and mentor future leaders while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading preconstruction, estimating, or project management teams within commercial construction.
• Experience managing multiple large, complex projects from concept through award.
• Strong background in budgeting, estimating, procurement, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience developing high-performing teams and mentoring staff.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage project profitability and risk.
• Experience overseeing projects valued at $5M+.
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience and 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites as needed.
