Role Snapshot

Picture your morning on a commercial job site in Los Angeles: you power up a new LG VRF system, review wiring diagrams, program the touchscreen controller, and coordinate with the installing contractor to fine-tune performance. By afternoon, you’re troubleshooting a Daikin control issue, connecting your laptop to verify BMS communications, documenting corrective actions, and submitting startup records for warranty activation. That’s a typical day as our VRF Commissioning and Controls Technician.

What You’ll Do

• Perform skilled mechanical work for startup, repair, installation, preventive maintenance, and routine service of HVAC equipment.
• Serve as the on‑site startup technician across multiple manufacturers.
• Troubleshoot installation and operation of control systems, including commercial Daikin, Aaeon, and LG HVAC systems.
• Program new control systems using touchscreens and computers.
• Read and interpret HVAC wiring diagrams during diagnostics.
• Communicate directly with the installing team to resolve issues using logic and sound reasoning.
• Document actions taken on service reports; complete all startup documentation and submit for warranty processing.
• Perform other duties and assignments as needed, and maintain regular, reliable attendance.

What You Know

• HVAC trade practices and industry standards; HVAC and refrigeration system theory.
• Materials, methods, and tools used in installation, operation, and repair of HVAC/R systems.
• Electrical theory as applied to HVAC equipment and controls.
• How to read and interpret manuals and technical documentation.
• Brazing and soldering techniques.
• Applicable health and safety regulations and basic record‑keeping.
• Proper storage and handling of equipment, materials, and supplies.

Advanced Technical Strengths

• LG and AAON commercial HVAC systems and commercial packaged units.
• VRF systems with expert‑level understanding of refrigerant properties.
• HVAC controls systems and related troubleshooting.
• Automated temperature control systems.
• Mechanical, electrical, and hydronic systems used in commercial HVAC.
• Modern, computer‑based HVAC platforms; ability to navigate email, internet applications, basic office software, and computer networking.
• BMS communication systems and functionality.
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC wiring schematics.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• Two years of an HVAC training program.

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid California driver’s license.
• Active EPA Universal Technician Certification.

Compensation & Benefits

$40–$65 per hour DOE. We offer excellent health benefits, a 401(k) plan, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, and flexible scheduling.
