Due to rapid growth, we are adding two experienced WA L&I Claims Managers to our in-office team in Olympia. This is a claim-owner role where you’ll manage a portfolio of WA L&I workers’ compensation claims end-to-end on behalf of employer clients; it is not a people-management position.

About Red Point Claims

At Red Point Claims, we’re relationship-oriented and professional, with a high standard for results. We hire strong performers, treat people with respect, and support each other. In this role, you’ll have autonomy, practical resources, and a steady, professional environment where quality work is valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Claim review: Review WA L&I claims to ensure medical treatment, time loss compensation, vocational services, and PPD awards are appropriate and comply with industrial insurance law and the facts of the claim.
  • Issue resolution: Contact and coordinate with appropriate parties to resolve claim issues, including the attending physician, consulting doctors, employer, injured worker, vocational counselor, WA L&I claims manager, and others.
  • Dispute strategy: Submit timely, well-supported written protests and/or appeals to any decision or benefit paid by L&I that does not comply with industrial insurance law or the facts of the claim. Track deadlines and maintain strong documentation.
  • RTW leadership: Assist employers in developing light-duty return-to-work programs and making light-duty job offers.
  • Client guidance: Explain WA industrial insurance law and L&I requirements clearly to employers.
  • Appeals support/representation: Prepare for and represent employer interests in appeals (including BIIA-related matters) consistent with applicable rules and internal protocols.
  • File ownership: Keep your portfolio organized and moving forward through proactive planning, timely follow-up, and clear client updates.

Portfolio Expectations

  • Work mix varies by portfolio and can include:
  • Protests and appeals (issue spotting, drafting, deadline tracking, evidence organization)
  • Active claim management and coordination (medical, time loss, vocational services, PPD)
  • Return-to-work and light-duty support (job analyses, offers, documentation)
  • Provider and stakeholder communication (attending physicians, consulting doctors, vocational counselors, WA L&I staff, employers, workers)
  • Strategy and documentation (file reviews, summaries, employer recommendations, client updates)

Tools and Workflow Support

  • Tools: Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), direct access to WA L&I claims and employer accounts, and the Gardiant Case Management System.
  • Workflow support: Standard templates/letter library, internal protocols, and administrative/process support to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Coaching and accountability: You’ll have clear expectations, regular check-ins, and support from leadership, while being trusted to manage your desk and priorities.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Required: Completion of the WA L&I Claim Manager Apprenticeship (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to write professional letters using appropriate spelling, grammar, punctuation, and format.
  • Strong working knowledge of Washington industrial insurance law and WA L&I policies, with the ability to apply it efficiently to claim management decisions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and high customer service standards.
  • Strong personal organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage a high-volume desk, meet deadlines, and keep work moving without constant reminders.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
