    Job Description

    POSITION: Event Captain

    REPORTS TO: Event Coordinator and MOD

    DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage



    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for ensuring that assigned events and activities are organized and executed providing a high level of service to achieve customer satisfaction. Sufficiently training and supervising the event team to meet and exceed Twisted Laurel’s standards.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Inclusive of but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned by management.


    • Planning, assigning and directing duties for event staff
    • Hands on interaction with customers and staff during events
    • Assist with collecting all event equipment, including but not limited to, flatware, china, glassware, serving utensils, sternos, chafers, etc.
    • Assist with preparation and set-up of event space
    • Communicate with Event Coordinator or MOD for briefing of event details. Review BEO, floor plan and checklists at least 48 hours prior to every event.
    • Comply with Health Department rules & regulations
    • Provide friendly and courteous service at all times
    • Remain present and available as the point of contact  during the entirety of the event
    • Inventory control to include, but not limited to, sterno, linen (rented and owned), serving utensils, china, flatware, glassware, decor and AV equipment. Anticipating needs for each based on upcoming bookings and submitting recommendations for purchase and/or rental to the appropriate manager, in writing. Banquet inventory spreadsheet should be submitted to management on a bi-monthly basis. Alerting MOD to cleaning needs of owned linens with sufficient lead time for upcoming events.
    • Complete closing checklist at the end of each event and set room to a la carte set up
    • Clean and return event equipment to proper storage location after each event
    • Adhere to and enforce strict grooming standards for themselves and other event staff
    • Adhere to and enforce all company policies
    • Adhere to and enforce all state and local laws
    • Communicate with Event Coordinator and MOD suggestions that may be helpful to improve future events
    • Complete Banquet Captain report at the conclusion of each event. 
    • Check storage areas for proper supplies, organization and cleanliness


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Directly responsible for the supervision and leadership of multiple event team members
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Twisted Laurel’s policies and applicable laws
    • Planning, assigning and/or directing event team members for a particular assigned event
    • Addressing customer and employee complaints and/or concerns
    • Meeting and exceeding customer expectations
    • Communicating any event or employee issues to the Event Coordinator and MOD, in writing
    • Accurately reporting hours worked off site into the POS system during the appropriate pay period.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
    • Minimum of 2 years food service experience required
    • Knowledge of catering services and terminology
    • Must speak and understand English well enough to converse with customers teammates and supervisors


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


    • Frequently lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 15 pounds, occasionally 
    • lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 30 pounds, rarely lifting/pushing/pulling objects up 
    • to 75 pounds (with assistance)
    • Ability to stand and walk  for extended periods of time
    • Manual dexterity to handle food service equipment such as utensils, plates, etc
    • Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment
