    Schedule: 10am-2pm, 10am - 8pm, and 4pm – 8pm Thursday thru Sunday working two weekends and off one weekend

    Job Duties

    The waiter position involves engaging customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking accurate food and beverage orders, communicating effectively with residents and the culinary team and serving our residents with caring hospitality.  He or she performs a variety of duties related to meal service, including greeting residents, taking orders stocking, cleaning, and catering for meal service.  The wait-staff presents ordered choices and responds to requests regarding food and beverage selections.  Responsibilities include removing courses and dinnerware as well as assisting with cleaning and other kitchen duties as needed.

    Qualifications 

    • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
    • 1-2 years wait-staff experience preferred
    • Alcohol Servers License required
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English language and follow written and oral instructions
    • Knowledgeable of proper food handling procedures
    • Excellent verbal communication skills required
    • Commitment to providing excellent customer service experiences to all patrons in the dining room
    • Must attend Wait-Staff Training class within 30 days after hire date and adhere to the procedures and standards set forth in the training

    Essential Functions

    Dining Room Set-up and Service

    • Maintains high standards of dining room set-up, service, and sanitation
    • Prepares the dining room by clothing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils in the appropriate places
    • Lights candles at dusk
    • Maintains the table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling beverage glasses, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs
    • Consistently monitors the salad bar to ensure product freshness and quantity

    Food and Beverage Service

    • Transmits food orders to the kitchen staff
    • Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting the timing of the meal progression
    • Serves orders and any accompaniments and/or condiments as requested by the patron
    • Prior to serving, inspects prepared food to ensure adherence to specifications, observing appearance, quality, and temperature
    • Demonstrates proper serving techniques with adherence to proper sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
    • Ensures the expectations of residents and visitors are consistently met regarding the service they receive
    • Responds in a professional manner to all patrons in the dining room, including responding to and resolving complaints regarding food orders
    • General knowledge of catering set-ups

    Menu Knowledge

    • Presents menu and is knowledgeable regarding the daily Chef’s Specials, soup of the day, and other special order options
    • Knowledgeable regarding questions related to food preparation and menu items

    Interpersonal relationships

    • Demonstrates good rapport and cooperative work relationship with others
    • Cooperatively adapts to changes, especially in crisis situations
    • Always exhibits a positive attitude

    Attendance and reliability

    • Provides proper notification and advance notice for absences or tardiness
    • Willing to adjust personal schedule when needed
    • Arrives on time and ready to work at the start of the assigned shift

     Other behavioral factors

    • Displays good communication skills when dealing with peers, subordinates, residents and visitors
    • Follows proper lines of communication as established by the organization
    • Displays enthusiasm in performance of own duties
    • Dresses in a professional manner and according to dress code policy; practices good personal hygiene; wears ID badge

    Physical Requirements: Requires extended standing and/or walking. Ability to lift heavy objects. Frequent bending and stooping.
