Description of Work

The JIRDC warehouse is responsible for the receiving, warehousing, and distribution of all goods incoming and outgoing merchandise for this 375+ bed facility as well as stocking, receiving, loading,unloading, breaking down of freight, shipping and receiving various loads of merchandise from vendors around the state as well as relocating various types of furniture to meet the needs of residence that live here and the needs of this facility. The warehouse is also responsible for delivering housekeeping, medical, food supplements, food products to nutritional services, office supplies, and to maintain an ample supply of stock to 25 campus-based supply rooms,15 medical areas, and 24 office supply locations along with the schools and classrooms to meet the needs of our facility. The Requisitions for these stock items are filled and delivered on a weekly basis. All other items received through the warehouse are delivered as received. Complete records must be kept on all items received and distributed so that they can be entered against the stock status report. Audits are done by State Purchase and Contract, by State Auditors, and by management to verify that all stock is accounted for. The warehouse also receives work orders on a daily basis to move furniture. The warehouse also picks up donated items from businesses and/or individuals. The warehouse is responsible for delivering Fedex, UPS, and USPS including mail bags throughout the center daily and assist with the moving of chairs and tables during events.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Recruitment Range: $15.00/hour

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Working knowledge of packaging and shipping procedures and practices (i.e. shrink wrap, etc.)
  • Experience delivering supplies and driving a box truck
  • Experience with frequently moving heavy furniture
  • Pallet jacket experience
  • Experience conducting manual inventory counts and making rapid & accurate mathematical calculations

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift and move 100 pounds frequently and safely

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Hours: 1st shift (8:00am-5:00pm), Monday - Friday
