Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Warehouse Associate to support shipping, receiving, inventory management, and production operations within a fast-paced manufacturing facility.
This role is responsible for gathering and preparing products for shipment, operating forklifts and warehouse equipment, supporting production line material flow, maintaining inventory accuracy, unloading inbound materials, and ensuring safe warehouse operations. Candidates should be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment while maintaining high productivity, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Pick and prepare loads for shipment according to packing specifications
- Verify loads against packing sheets and shipping documentation
- Load carrier trucks while ensuring proper weight distribution
- Unload inbound materials, chemicals, equipment, and interplant shipments
- Process small package shipments using UPS shipping systems
- Coordinate shipping equipment and truck repair needs when necessary
Warehouse Operations
- Pull completed skids from production lines and place inventory into warehouse racks
- Scan products into inventory systems
- Organize warehouse inventory and shelving areas
- Perform daily cycle counts and inventory checks
- Stock corrugated boxes and materials needed for production operations
- Operate wrapping equipment safely and efficiently
- Prioritize pallets and staging based on production needs
- Perform housekeeping duties throughout warehouse and shipping areas
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate forklifts and warehouse equipment
- Dock trailers for loading using Ottawa yard truck equipment
- Enter materials into SAP inventory systems when needed
- Follow all warehouse, shipping, and plant safety procedures
Team Support
- Train new warehouse associates on procedures and equipment
- Support management-assigned operational projects
- Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- Troubleshoot operational and safety concerns while escalating issues appropriately
Qualifications
- Warehouse, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, or logistics experience preferred
- Forklift experience required
- SAP or inventory management system experience preferred
- Ability to accurately read packing sheets and shipping documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to following procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely lift and move materials up to 60 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to work extended shifts and overtime as needed
- Comfortable working in:
- Noisy manufacturing environments
- Dusty warehouse conditions
- Hot/cold temperatures
- Areas with chemical odors
- Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with all safety requirements
