Role overview

This role centers on running a system control center, clearly communicating critical issues, and partnering across functions to maintain and elevate performance, safety, and quality. Core responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and performance of automated adapters, vertical lifts, and automated robotic vehicles.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex operational and system issues; coordinate escalations to support teams for production‑impacting events.
  • Communicate technical details succinctly to site teams and customers; produce clear documentation and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement corrective actions and systemic improvements.
  • Train and support operators on the full ecosystem: automated adapters, vertical lifts, robotic vehicles, warehouse management systems, and related IT.
  • Backfill essential on‑site Symbotic roles to stabilize operations when needed.
  • Contribute to standardization, continuous improvement, and production‑focused change initiatives for the warehouse automation solution.
  • Uphold safety practices in alignment with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or comparable experience.
  • Minimum 2 years with automated/industrial systems.
  • Proficiency and eagerness to grow with PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), robotics (ABB), and software/OS such as SQL, Linux, and Python.
  • Hands‑on strength in assembling, operating, and troubleshooting robotics and electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Team‑first mindset, willingness to learn new equipment, and high urgency.

Work environment

  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel by car or air to client and customer sites.
  • Own a credit card; submit expenses bi‑weekly to Symbotic for reimbursement.
  • Frequent walking and reaching; standing, climbing/balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Work at heights up to 45 feet; navigate restrictive areas as narrow as 24 inches; frequent stair climbing within the automation structure; regular proximity to high railings.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comply with all safety protocols, including Lock out tag out and fall protection.
  • PPE required when applicable (e.g., construction sites): hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
  • Protected from weather but not temperature; work in 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.

Compensation and benefits

Base range: $71,000.00 – $97,900.00 (location‑based). Actual base depends on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other offerings.
