Job Type: Full Time- twelve months

SALARY RANGE: $32,884-$50,266

Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee's supplement is the employee's salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).

Job Goal

To provide safe, reliable and cost-effective transportation and storage of school supplies and equipment, ensuring on-time deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory, adhering to state and district regulations.

Qualifications (minimum education, licensure, skills and/or experience)

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Louisiana driver's license.
  • Must pass and is subject to drug tests as required by federal and state law and the School Board's policies regarding drug testing, operating school-owned vehicles, transporting students and all applicable policies.
  • Must complete and pass a physical examination performed by a duly licensed physician.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to interact professionally with staff, students and administrators.
  • Basic computer and software skills for inventory tracking and record-keeping.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Prior work in a school system, government agency or similarly regulated environment.
  • Forklift certification or other specialized equipment licenses.
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal transport and warehouse regulations; ability to adhere to district safety and security requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Duties and Operations

  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail by verifying quantities and quality of incoming shipments, documenting discrepancies and updating records to reflect actual inventory levels.
  • Applies organizational skills in storing and labeling items, rotating stock efficiently and maintaining compliance with district and state guidelines.
  • Exhibits effective planning by preparing orders and internal mail for shipment or distribution, ensuring timely deliveries and meeting the specific requirements of various schools or departments.
  • Ensures warehouse facilities and equipment are clean, secure and well-maintained, performing or arranging for routine inspections and repairs as necessary.

Physical Demands

This role operates in an outdoor environment, with regular exposure to moderate temperature variations. The usual methods of performing job functions require moderate to heavy lifting (fifty [50] pounds or greater), carrying, pushing and pulling with frequent engagement in activities such as standing, walking and sitting. Additional physical requirements include ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often throughout the workday; frequent movement across school grounds; ability to push or pull equipment, such as pallet jacks and other equipment; pushing or pulling of heavy objects; ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements; manual dexterity for various responsibilities; frequent bending, stooping and kneeling; ability to climb ladders and/or scaffolding; ability to crawl in confined spaces; ability to operate machinery, equipment and tools; ability to work in varying conditions, such as inclement weather; ability to handle changes in temperature and noise levels; adaptability to switch between multiple tasks and manage interruptions; ability to drive within or outside of the district to various schools, meetings and events; ability to navigate different sites and locations; and physical mobility to move swiftly around school and district facilities.
