  • Guides electrode or welding gun along the weld line, maintaining arc length and movement speed to achieve specified fusion depth and bead quality, based on metal color, weld sound, and molten puddle size.
  • Selects and inserts the specified electrode into a holder or threads consumable wire through the welding gun.
  • Connects welding unit cables to set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse per Welding Engineer specifications.
  • Activates power supply to generate electric current.
  • Strikes arc to produce heat, depositing metal from the electrode to join workpiece edges.
  • Performs welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Inspects welds for bead size and compliance with specifications.
  • May manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal.
  • May clean or degrease joints using wire brush, grinder, or chemical bath.
  • May repair broken/cracked parts, fill holes, or prepare surfaces by grooving or scarfing.
