    Description

    Position Summary

    The Warehouse Floater is a versatile team member responsible for supporting all warehouse and shipping operations as business needs require. This position is cross-trained to perform picking, packing, freight handling, shipping, inventory movement, and general warehouse duties. The Warehouse Floater helps ensure customer orders are accurately processed, products are handled safely, and daily operations run efficiently while maintaining Steel & O'Brien's high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.     Primary Functions

    • Pick customer orders accurately using packing lists and work orders.
    • Verify part numbers, descriptions, and quantities before shipment.
    • Count and inspect products to ensure order accuracy.
    • Package products to minimize damage during shipment.
    • Operate packaging equipment and other warehouse tools safely.
    • Load, unload, sort, and organize incoming and outgoing freight.
    • Move materials throughout the warehouse using appropriate equipment.
    • Prepare shipments using UPS, FedEx, LTL, and other shipping software.
    • Utilize ERP/computer systems to process orders and shipping documentation.
    • Assist with receiving, staging, and organizing inventory.
    • Maintain accurate inventory through proper handling and organization.
    • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
    • Support inventory counts and warehouse improvement initiatives.
    • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
    • Cross-train in multiple warehouse functions and provide coverage wherever needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Previous warehouse, shipping, freight, or distribution experience preferred.
    • Experience with UPS/FedEx shipping software is a plus.
    • Basic computer skills required.
    • Forklift certification or ability to become certified preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Reliable with excellent attendance.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities.
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including:

    • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday.
    • Stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach regularly.
    • Push, pull, and move materials throughout the warehouse.
    • Safely navigate a busy manufacturing and warehouse environment.
    • Operate warehouse equipment safely after proper training.

    Working Conditions

    • Fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
    • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching.
    • Exposure to varying temperatures, warehouse traffic, and manufacturing noise.
    • Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 50 pounds.
    • Use of computers, shipping software, warehouse equipment, and material handling equipment.

    Salary Range: $18-$18.50/hour
