Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30/4:00 PM
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay Rate: Up to $25/hr.  
Assignment Length: 6 Months
Extension Potential: Yes, based on business needs

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist for a 6-month project supporting parts inventory operations at a facility in Richmond, California.
 
This role will focus on improving inventory accuracy, conducting cycle counts, organizing the parts room, correcting inventory records, and ensuring mechanical and consumable parts are properly documented, labeled, and stored. The ideal candidate has previous inventory control, parts room, warehouse, or cycle counting experience and is comfortable working independently in a hands-on environment.
 
The initial schedule is Monday through Friday on the first shift. Following training, the manager may offer some flexibility with the work schedule. Candidates must be open to occasional weekend work as needed.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct ongoing cycle counts to verify physical inventory quantities and identify and correct discrepancies.
• Enter missing parts into the inventory system and update descriptions, quantities, categories, and storage locations.
• Ensure inventory and parts data is complete, standardized, and accurate.
• Reorganize parts room shelves and maintain a clean, efficient, and properly labeled storage environment.
• Identify excess or misplaced parts located outside the designated parts room and determine which items should be returned to inventory.
• Stock excess and newly identified parts in the appropriate locations according to established company standards.
• Clean up inventory documentation and ensure part descriptions, categories, and locations are properly maintained.
• Assist with mid-project and final inventory audits to validate improvements and inventory accuracy.
• Help technicians and other team members locate parts and answer questions regarding inventory availability.
• Support additional inventory and parts room activities as needed.
 
Project Timeline
Month 1: Conduct initial cycle counts, identify missing descriptions and incorrect quantities, and begin shelf organization and labeling.
Months 2–3: Complete inventory system cleanup, add or update part descriptions, and process excess parts for return to inventory.
Months 4–5: Conduct in-depth cycle counts, correct remaining discrepancies, and finalize the organization of shelves and storage areas.
Month 6: Prepare for the final inventory audit, confirm the accuracy of inventory records, and document completed improvements for project handoff.
Project responsibilities and timelines are subject to review or change based on business needs.
 
Qualifications
• 1–4 years of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, parts inventory, warehouse operations, or a similar role.
• Experience with mechanical and consumable parts inventory procedures.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft PC applications.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System, CMMS, is a plus.
• Standing pallet jack experience required.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50–60 pounds.
• Ability to work occasional weekends when business needs require.
