Local thriving, established and growing flooring company seeking a detail-oriented professional to serve as their warehouse lead!
Job Summary
The Warehouse Lead acts as the hands-on supervisor of daily floor operations, bridging the gap between management and warehouse staff. This role coordinates the physical receipt, staging, and load-out of heavy flooring materials like tile pallets, hardwood planks, and carpet rolls. The position focuses heavily on organizing installer crews, maintaining daily inventory accuracy, and leading safety protocols on the warehouse floor.
Core Responsibilities
Crew Load-Out Coordination: Lead the morning staging process, ensure correct job packs are ready, and coordinate fast, accurate loading for installer trucks.
Daily Team Direction: Delegate immediate tasks to warehouse associates, monitor workflow efficiency, and provide hands-on training for new hires.
Receiving & Put-Away: Inspect incoming freight for damage, verify quantities against packing slips, and assign designated storage zones for heavy materials.
Inventory Verification: Perform daily cycle counts, track dye lots or batch numbers for tiles/vinyl, and report discrepancies directly to the Operations Manager.
Safety Enforcement: Act as the primary champion for OSHA compliance on the floor, monitor safe forklift operation, and ensure a clean, hazard-free workspace.
Material Cutting & Prep: Operate or oversee specialized equipment to measure and cut carpet, vinyl, or turf rolls to exact order specifications.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 2+ years of warehouse experience, with preferred exposure to flooring, stone, lumber, or building materials.
Equipment Certification: Current OSHA-compliant forklift certification is required, with proficiency in handling oversized pallets or carpet poles. The successful candidate will complete specific certification on our equipment.
Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift, push, and pull heavy items up to 50–75 lbs on a regular basis.
Mathematical Skills: Strong basic math skills for measuring square footage, linear footage, and converting flooring units.
Software Familiarity: Basic computer literacy to look up inventory locations, print pick tickets, and log receipt confirmations.
Working Conditions
Spends 90%+ of the shift directly on the warehouse floor or loading dock.
Exposed to warehouse environment and variable temperatures depending on the season.
