Position Title: Warehouse Lead Person - Food and Nutrition Services

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the efficient and proper operation of the Nutrition Services warehouse and distribution system.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assure all food and supplies are delivered daily to the appropriate schools in a timely and safe manner as scheduled.
  • Direct the work of the Nutrition Services Distribution team, including, but not limited to, drivers and warehouse assistants.
  • Coordinate work with the Nutrition Services Production Office and Nutrition Services Production Manager.
  • Train new distribution team members schedule their work and provide input into their performance based on observation and inspection.
  • Maintain all records required by the Nutrition Services Office.
  • Schedule routine maintenance of delivery vehicles and related equipment.
  • Perform all ordering duties for the satellite and the secondary programs utilizing on-line computer ordering systems and work directly with the Nutrition Services Supervisor with menu planning, and effective utilization of entitlement procurement.
  • Inspect and check-in all incoming stock following HACCP standards established by the department.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation food safety and personal work safety in the storage area.
  • Coordinate shipping, receiving and production with the Nutrition Center Supervisor.
  • Provide production supplies from the storage area to the kitchen as needed.
  • Assist with summer meal program as directed by Supervisor.
  • Attend meetings as directed.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways.
  • Develop professional relationships with vendor representatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum two years' experience driving large vehicles and working in a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated good driving skills and Motor Vehicle Record. (If more than two points application will be held for further review.)
  • Demonstrated leadership/training and mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle fork-lift and unload skids from tractor trailers and general warehouse or logistics experience.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.

  • Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to left 50# above head height.
  • Ability to down stack cases from pallets in excess of 6 ft. in height.
  • Ability to work in zero-degree freezer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend at the knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in wet conditions safely

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of warehouse personnel.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
