Your Opportunity:

The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Indianapolis, IN, is looking for a warehouse lead to join our team. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.

What You'll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:

This position requires employees to work safely and efficiently in accordance with all Company safety standards. The ability to recognize and distinguish colors and various material types is essential. Strong communication skills are required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

As a valued member of the department, you will be expected to contribute to optimal production performance. Flexibility is important, as this role may involve supporting additional functions as needed, including inventory-related activities and cross-training opportunities across departments.

Employees in this position are also responsible for maintaining a clean, neat, and organized work area, upholding good housekeeping practices, and performing other duties as assigned.

• Coordinates the daily activities of Warehouse Order Processing, Accessories and Hoods
• Assists in maintaining an uninterrupted flow of orders through the department
• Expedites rush and specialty orders to insure their timely delivery to the customer
• Makes sure all areas have adequate stock to fill orders
• Coordinates the placing of returned apparel back into inventory
• Lead trainer for new employees, including seasonal warehouse processing staff
• Assists in line processing, inventory control or accessories areas as needed
• Assumes responsibility of the department in the supervisor's absence
• Assists in inventory control of all finished goods inventories
• Coordinates movement of processed orders to the shipping system

What You'll Bring to the Table:

• Must have adequate computer skills
• Must be self-motivated
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions
• Needs to have basic working knowledge of Customer Service and Manufacturing Department procedures
• Ability to work closely with Manufacturing in requesting product to be made and shipped in a timely manner
• Ability to work closely with Customer Service in communication of products and orders that may not meet dates due to outsourcing restrictions
• Ability to understand shipping guidelines and restrictions
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Proficiency with Oracle, Excel, Word
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to select material by quality standards, colors, styles, and shades
• Must be able to recognize colors and different cloth styles
• Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Job may require lifting to, but not exceeding 30 pounds
• Positive Attitude
• Ability and willingness to accept and adapt to an ever-changing environment
• Must be able to work all mandatory overtime

Physical Requirements:

• Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting
• Reading, communication, math
• Working at a computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above
