Location: This position is 100% onsite in Brandon, FL. We will be relocating to our new facility in Lakeland, FL within the next few months and you will be required to work 100% onsite in Lakeland at that time.

Summary: Ashley Furniture is seeking a detail-oriented Warehouse Management System (WMS) Specialistto optimize our warehouse operations through technology solutions. The ideal candidate will configure, maintain, and support our WMS platform to ensure efficient inventory management, order fulfillment, and seamless warehouse workflows. This role bridges the gap between technology and operations, driving continuous improvement through system optimization and user enablement.

Responsibilities:

WMS Configuration & Maintenance

  • Configure and maintain WMS platform settings, workflows, and business rules to support operational requirements
  • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades in coordination with IT and vendor support teams
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization
  • Ensure data integrity across inventory management, receiving, picking, packing, and shipping processes
  • Maintain system documentation including configuration guides, process flows, and standard operating procedures
  • Develop and maintain user roles, permissions, and security settings within the WMS

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

  • Serve as primary point of contact for WMS-related issues and user support requests
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, data discrepancies, and workflow interruptions
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive solutions
  • Coordinate with WMS vendor for escalated technical support and issue resolution
  • Provide timely communication to stakeholders regarding system issues and resolution timelines
  • Monitor system alerts and logs to identify and address potential problems before they impact operations

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Analyze warehouse workflows and identify opportunities to leverage WMS capabilities for increased efficiency
  • Partner with warehouse leadership to design and implement process improvements
  • Optimize picking strategies, slotting configurations, and inventory allocation rules
  • Develop and test new WMS features and functionality before deployment
  • Create and maintain performance dashboards and reporting tools
  • Benchmark system performance against industry best practices and recommend enhancements

Training & User Enablement

  • Develop and deliver WMS training programs for new hires and existing warehouse staff
  • Create training materials including user guides, quick reference sheets, and video tutorials
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions for new WMS features and process changes
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure proper system utilization
  • Maintain a knowledge base of common issues, solutions, and best practices
  • Serve as WMS subject matter expert for cross-functional teams

Integration & Data Management

  • Support integration between WMS and other systems (ERP, TMS, order management, e-commerce platforms)
  • Monitor data flows and interface functionality to ensure seamless system communication
  • Validate data accuracy during system updates or migrations
  • Generate and analyze reports on inventory accuracy, order fulfillment metrics, and operational KPIs
  • Support EDI transactions and automated data exchanges with vendors and carriers
  • Collaborate with IT and business intelligence teams on data requirements and reporting needs

Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead or support WMS-related projects including new feature rollouts and process changes
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) for system enhancements
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication
  • Document requirements and work with vendors or IT to develop custom solutions
  • Support new warehouse site implementations and system expansions
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean/Six Sigma projects

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with Warehouse Management Systems in an operational or technical support role
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping processes
  • Proficiency in WMS configuration, troubleshooting, and user administration
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific WMS platforms (Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP EWM, Oracle WMS, HighJump, etc.)
  • Knowledge of RF/barcode scanning technology and mobile warehouse devices
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and system integration concepts
  • Understanding of EDI transactions and automated data exchanges
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or furniture/large item fulfillment operations
  • SQL query writing and database management skills
  • Lean Six Sigma or process improvement certification
  • Project management experience or PMP certification
  • Experience with automation technologies (AS/RS, robotics, conveyor systems)

Work Environment:

This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
