Job Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates the purchasing, receiving, storage and distribution, maintenance and ancillary supply of food service items for the agency while protecting the public, our employees and our inmate (safety) goods.
  • Interviews, hires, evaluates and trains all warehouse and business employees.
  • Ensure proper inspections of all warehouse merchandise received, proper rotation of goods and verifying accuracy of all transactions and records.
  • Ensure the receipt for proper credit on items damaged and/or outdated.
  • Relays credit to accounting sections or electronically credits accounts.
  • Provide rehabilitation and self-improvement opportunities for inmates.
  • Serve as a CDL-A driver as needed.
  • Promote professional excellence, fiscal responsibility and self-sufficiency.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in order to drive canteen delivery vehicle for transportation of products from warehouse to institutional canteens.
  • Must be able to lift sixty (60) pounds.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree and relevant program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree and two (2) years of relevant program experience.

OR

  • Associates degree and four (4) years of relevant program experience;

OR

  • A high school diploma and six (6) years of relevant program experience.

Must possess or have the ability to obtain CDL - A within one (1) year of hire date.
