Job Description

Job Description

An established international company specializing in premium architectural and building materials is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee and actively participate in the day-to-day operation of its New York warehouse.

This is a hands-on working manager position, not a desk-based supervisory role. Our warehouse operates with a small team, and the Warehouse Manager is expected to lead by example and participate directly in all aspects of warehouse operations as needed—including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, inventory handling, material movement and general warehouse organization.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable managing people and performing the work alongside the team. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the operation, establishes daily priorities, maintains high standards of accuracy and organization, and is willing to step in wherever needed to get the job done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and actively participate in all daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing and shipping.
  • Work alongside warehouse personnel and provide hands-on assistance wherever needed based on workload and daily priorities.
  • Supervise, train and coordinate a small warehouse team while leading by example.
  • Establish daily work assignments and ensure orders and shipments are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Receive, inspect, move, organize and store incoming merchandise.
  • Pick and prepare customer orders, samples and other materials for shipment.
  • Oversee and participate in the careful packaging of products for parcel, LTL and freight shipments.
  • Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and identify shortages, discrepancies or damages.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and proper identification and location of products.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory checks and participate directly in periodic inventory counts and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing freight and communicate with carriers as required.
  • Work closely with customer service and operations personnel to prioritize customer orders and shipping requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and highly organized warehouse.
  • Monitor packaging materials, warehouse supplies and equipment and coordinate replenishment as necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate shipping, receiving and inventory documentation.
  • Ensure proper warehouse and workplace safety procedures are followed.
  • Identify and implement practical improvements to warehouse organization, efficiency and workflow.
  • Take ownership of resolving day-to-day warehouse issues rather than simply escalating them to others.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of warehouse, distribution or logistics experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.
  • Experience working in a hands-on warehouse management or working supervisor role strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a small team while also participating directly in daily warehouse activities.
  • Strong inventory-control and organizational skills.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving, including LTL and common-carrier freight.
  • Experience handling and packaging heavy, fragile or high-value materials is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working with inventory/ERP systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, customer service and management.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and adapt quickly as daily requirements change.
  • Dependable, practical and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with an active warehouse position.

The Person We're Looking For

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being actively involved in warehouse operations and does not believe that being a manager means stepping away from the physical work.

Because we operate with a small team, everyone contributes. The Warehouse Manager must be willing to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team while still maintaining responsibility for organization, productivity, accuracy, safety and overall warehouse performance.

We value reliability, accountability, organization and a strong work ethic. The right candidate will take pride in maintaining an efficient warehouse and will approach the operation with a sense of personal ownership.

What We Offer

This position provides the opportunity to take responsibility for an established warehouse operation supporting an international company in the luxury architectural and design industry.

We are seeking someone interested in becoming a long-term member of our organization and taking an active role in maintaining and continuously improving our warehouse operation.

Compensation: $70,000.00–$80,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Work Location: On-site in the Bronx, NY
Benefits: Health insurance / Paid time off
