Job Overview:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping. This role ensures operational excellence through disciplined processes, strong leadership, and continuous improvement, while aligning warehouse performance with broader supply chain and business objectives. This position combines hands-on operational leadership with strategic process improvement, enabling efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and high service levels to internal and external customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage staffing levels and work schedules to meet operational demands.
- Lead day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Ensure accurate and timely material movement to support production and customer delivery requirements.
- Maintain optimal warehouse layout, space utilization, and material flow.
- Oversee SAP transactions to ensure full inventory visibility and traceability.
- Standardize processes and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Optimize workflows, eliminate waste, and improve warehouse KPIs (e.g., On-time delivery, cycle count accuracy, dock-to-stock time).
- Own inventory accuracy through cycle counting, reconciliation, and root cause analysis.
- Lead annual physical inventory processes with minimal operational disruption.
- Identify and manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Drive continuous improvement in inventory control processes and systems.
- Appropriately utilize data and analytics to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and purchasing personnel.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for results.
- Build a high-performing team focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Develop workforce capability through training, coaching, and structured development plans.
- Foster a culture aligned with company values and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture and proactively address risks.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe warehouse conditions.
- Partner with procurement, operations, finance, and sales teams to align priorities.
- Support sourcing, expediting, and material availability for production and service.
- Build strong internal relationships to enable seamless execution of business plans.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of operational experience in a manufacturing / distribution environment.
- 3-5 years in a warehouse leadership role.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred (or high school diploma/GED) preferred.
- Experience managing teams, budgets, and performance metrics.
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and MS Word, Outlook, Excel (intermediate to advanced), PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with warehouse operations including ability to lift up to 45 lbs. regularly and work in an environment with noise, dust, and chemicals.
- Experience with material handling equipment.
