    Warehouse Manager

A large food manufacturing and distribution operation is seeking a Warehouse Manager to lead outbound logistics, inventory control, warehouse safety, storage strategy, and day-to-day execution across a complex multi-building site. This is a true department-head opportunity for a leader who can improve systems and space utilization while remaining highly visible on the floor.

The best fit will bring 3-5 years of warehouse leadership in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, food, packaging, or temperature-controlled environment. This person should be comfortable directing supervisors and frontline teams, managing truck and rail activity, using warehouse systems to protect inventory accuracy, and adapting quickly during a demanding seasonal production cycle.

    Location: Montgomery, Minnesota

Schedule: Monday-Friday daytime schedule during the off-season; flexible hours and shared weekend coverage during peak season, typically August through December

    Work Setting: Onsite

    Role Type: Direct hire

Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 base salary, plus eligibility for up to a 7.5% Management by Objectives bonus

    Benefits

Medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage for eligible employees

Company-sponsored life insurance and short-term and long-term disability coverage

401(k) retirement savings plan with company match

Paid time off, holidays, wellness resources, and additional employee benefits

    Responsibilities

Lead daily warehouse, shipping, and distribution activities across multiple buildings, storage areas, and operating zones.

Direct and develop warehouse supervisors, team leads, terminal mechanics, forklift operators, and other assigned personnel; set clear expectations and track performance.

Plan and oversee outbound freight by regional over-the-road carriers and rail, balancing service, capacity, timing, and cost.

Improve warehouse layouts and product flow across ambient, frozen, and refrigerated areas to support rapid capacity changes during seasonal canning cycles.

Maintain accurate inventory processes for raw stock, ingredients, packaging, finished goods, lot traceability, and cycle counts.

Use warehouse management and shipping systems to strengthen data accuracy, scheduling, reporting, and operational visibility.

Partner with production, labeling, quality, maintenance, transportation, and plant leadership to remove bottlenecks and keep product moving safely.

Enforce facility safety procedures, food-safe Good Manufacturing Practices, housekeeping standards, and equipment operating requirements.

Monitor labor, productivity, service, inventory, and safety metrics; investigate misses and implement corrective actions.

Maintain a visible floor presence, communicate directly, and model integrity, humility, and accountability.

    Qualifications

3-5 years of department-head, manager, or high-level supervisory experience in an industrial warehouse, manufacturing plant, or comparable high-throughput operation.

Demonstrated leadership of supervisors, leads, and frontline warehouse or distribution employees.

Working knowledge of outbound shipping, carrier coordination, inventory control, cycle counting, warehouse safety, and material flow.

Strong comfort with warehouse management systems, industrial shipping platforms, reporting tools, and data-based performance management.

Ability to work onsite and flex hours during the August-December peak season, including an equitable share of weekend coverage.

Direct, calm communication style with the judgment to hold standards without losing trust.

    Preferred Qualifications

Food or beverage manufacturing, packaging, canning, consumer packaged goods, cold storage, or temperature-controlled distribution experience.

Experience with rail-served logistics, large-footprint or multi-building warehousing, labeling operations, or seasonal production surges.

Track record improving layout, slotting, capacity utilization, inventory accuracy, labor productivity, or shipping performance.
