Job Description

Our client, Marmi Natural Stone is seeking an experienced, professional Warehouse Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Norcross warehouse and to oversee facilities across the company.

Summary

This role is equal parts operator and leader: someone who is as comfortable presenting inventory metrics or a capital repair request to leadership as they are walking the warehouse floor, running a forklift or overhead crane, or troubleshooting a facilities issue on-site. The Warehouse Operations Manager will directly supervise warehouse associates and drivers, manage the safe and efficient flow of large-format, high-value natural stone and crated materials, and serve as the primary owner of Marmi's facilities, ensuring our buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, well-maintained, and run efficiently. This is a highly visible role that bridges warehouse operations and the office, requiring strong communication with company systems and staff, and hands-on presence in the warehouse and around our facilities.

Essential Functions

Warehouse Operations & Logistics

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the receiving, storage, handling, and distribution of natural stone slabs, tile, and crated materials.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, including scheduling, container/truck loading and unloading, and delivery/pickup coordination.
  • Operate and/or oversee safe operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment used to move materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in coordination with the warehouse staff and finance/inventory systems; support periodic physical counts and reconciliation.
  • Monitor warehouse capacity, layout, and bin/lot organization to maximize space, efficiency, and product protection.
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for receiving, storage, material placement, and shipping.

Material Handling, Safety & Security

  • Develop, implement, and enforce warehouse safety programs, including equipment operation standards, PPE requirements, and incident reporting.
  • Conduct regular safety and housekeeping walkthroughs; promptly correct or escalate hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, and other federal, state, and local warehousing and material- handling requirements; keep leadership informed of relevant regulatory changes.
  • Guard against loss, theft, or damage of product through appropriate controls, training, and oversight.
  • Maintain equipment (forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks, etc.) on a preventive maintenance schedule; coordinate repairs and manage vendor relationships for equipment service.

Facilities Management

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for the condition, safety, and functionality of Marmi's facilities, including the Norcross warehouse, office space, grounds, and any additional company properties.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections; identify and prioritize repair, maintenance, and improvement needs.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage subcontractors and vendors for facilities-related work (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, janitorial, security systems, etc.), including scope, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Develop and manage facilities-related budgets and capital expenditure requests in coordination with the Director of Finance.
  • Maintain building and life-safety systems (fire suppression, alarm systems, signage, lighting) in good working order and in compliance with applicable codes.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Directly supervise warehouse associates, drivers, and other warehouse/facilities-related staff, including scheduling, workload distribution, and day-to-day direction.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train warehouse and facilities personnel in partnership with HR.
  • Set clear performance expectations; conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and, when necessary, disciplinary action in partnership with HR.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism among warehouse and facilities staff.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner closely with the leadership team on inventory accuracy, cost control, and operational reporting.
  • Use company business systems (e.g., ERP/inventory management platform, Microsoft Office/Excel, email) to track inventory, generate reports, and communicate proactively with the office team.
  • Represent warehouse and facilities operations in cross-departmental meetings; translate floor-level issues into clear, professional updates and recommendations for leadership.
  • Support sales, production, and business unit teams by ensuring timely material availability and communicating constraints or delays.
  • Other duties as assigned to support overall company operations.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and progressive warehouse, logistics, or facilities management experience will be considered.
  • 3-5+ years of management experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, or facilities, including direct supervisory experience.
  • Experience handling large-format or heavy material (e.g., stone slabs, sheet goods, large panels) strongly preferred; forklift and overhead crane experience required or readily attainable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage facilities operations, including vendor/subcontractor oversight and basic budget management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); comfortable learning proprietary inventory and business management software (training provided).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to move fluidly between warehouse-floor conversations and professional communication with leadership, office staff, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT requirements relevant to warehousing and material handling.
  • Professional, polished demeanor combined with a genuine willingness to be hands-on and present on the warehouse floor.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, reach, and move around the warehouse floor.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 80 lbs. occasionally, with the use of appropriate equipment for heavier material.
  • Work is performed indoors in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse and outdoors at times, with exposure to changing weather conditions.
  • Also required to work in an office environment for meetings, reporting, and system use; role requires regular movement between office and warehouse settings throughout the day.
