Job Description

The Warehouse Operator supports shipping, receiving, and inventory activities in a busy coffee manufacturing and distribution facility. This role focuses on loading and unloading trucks, staging and preparing orders for shipment, conducting inventory cycle counts, and accurately picking orders while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The position is a 3‑month contract with the possibility of extension to cover a team member.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all shipping and receiving activities, including processing incoming and outgoing shipments accurately and on time.
  • Load and unload trucks safely, using appropriate material handling equipment and following established procedures.
  • Stage products for shipping, including shrink-wrapping pallets and organizing orders for efficient dispatch.
  • Conduct regular inventory cycle counts, ensuring accurate quantities and documentation in spreadsheets and inventory systems.
  • Pick orders according to pick lists or RF scanner instructions, ensuring accuracy, proper labeling, and timely completion.
  • Receive incoming raw materials, verify quantities and quality against purchase orders, and inspect for damage or defects.
  • Store materials in designated locations, label items with lot numbers, expiration dates, and other identifiers to ensure full traceability.
  • Handle materials using forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move items between receiving docks, storage, and production lines.
  • Enter inventory and material movement data into spreadsheets and systems, coordinating information with accounting and purchasing teams.
  • Prepare and stage materials according to the production schedule or production requests, delivering items to manufacturing lines, production areas, or other warehouse locations as needed.
  • Follow all safety regulations and company procedures, including proper equipment operation and adherence to storage requirements such as flavor segregation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace in warehouse, staging, and production support areas.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, production, warehouse, and quality control teams to prevent material shortages, delays, or production interruptions.
  • Provide professional customer service and clear communication when interacting with internal stakeholders and external partners related to shipping and receiving.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations, including loading, unloading, and staging orders for shipment.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory management, including weekly, monthly, and yearly inventory counts and data entry into spreadsheets.
  • Ability to operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
  • Experience using RF scanners for picking, inventory tracking, and order processing.

  • Ability to pick orders accurately and efficiently in a warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of basic safety and compliance practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting, including safe material handling and equipment operation.
  • Capability to receive and inspect raw materials, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and identifying damage or defects.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with purchasing, production, warehouse, and quality control teams.
  • Ability to work in an environment where temperatures reflect outdoor conditions and maintain performance in varying weather.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility, ideally with food or beverage products.
  • Familiarity with flavor segregation or similar specialized storage requirements.
  • Comfort using box trucks or similar vehicles in support of shipping and receiving activities.
  • Customer service experience in a logistics, warehouse, or distribution context.
  • Ability to use basic office software and spreadsheets for inventory tracking and reporting.

Why Work Here?

Join a dynamic operation that values safety, teamwork, and reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment. You will work closely with multiple departments, gain exposure to both warehouse and production processes, and build versatile skills in material handling and inventory management. The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to smooth day-to-day operations while developing experience that is highly transferable within logistics and manufacturing.

Work Environment

The role is based in a coffee manufacturing and distribution facility where work takes place in warehouse and production support areas. The temperature inside closely matches outdoor conditions, so you should be comfortable working in varying weather. You will regularly use material handling equipment such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and RF scanners, and you will work around active production lines and storage areas.
