Position Summary
The Pallet Repair Lead is responsible for supporting the daily pallet repair and sort operation while working alongside the team to achieve production, quality, safety, and customer expectations. This position serves as the primary floor-level point of contact and works closely with the Supervisor to ensure daily goals are achieved, customer specifications are followed, and all outbound loads meet established quality requirements.
The Lead is expected to lead by example and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, productivity, accountability, and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality & Customer Requirements
- Perform quality inspections on all outbound loads during the loading process to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Perform quality inspections on all sorted and repaired pallets.
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of the required specifications for all pallet types handled within the operation.
- Ensure pallets being repaired, sorted, staged, and shipped meet the appropriate customer specifications.
- Complete and maintain all required quality inspection forms and documentation.
- Identify quality concerns and ensure corrections are made before pallets or loads are released.
- Communicate recurring quality issues to the Supervisor and assist with corrective actions.
- Must be able to lift 65+ pounds repetitively throughout the day
Shipping & Operational Execution
- Monitor loading and shipping activity to help ensure trucks are processed efficiently and detention fees are avoided.
- Ensure outbound loads are accurate, properly staged, inspected, and ready for shipment.
- Inspect operational and shipping paperwork to ensure all required information is complete and accurate.
- Correct documentation discrepancies before paperwork is finalized or submitted.
- Communicate delays, equipment issues, staffing concerns, or other conditions that could impact customer service or detention to the Supervisor immediately.
- Inventory control
Safety
- Maintain a strong safety presence throughout the operation.
- Identify and immediately address unsafe behaviors or conditions.
- Make corrections when safety violations are observed and communicate significant or repeated violations to the Supervisor.
- Ensure employees follow required PPE, equipment, and established safe-work procedures.
- Lead by example by consistently demonstrating safe work practices.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Leadership & Team Accountability
- Lead the team by example through attendance, work ethic, attitude, safety, quality, and productivity.
- Communicate daily production, quality, and operational expectations to employees.
- Monitor team performance throughout the shift and provide direction when adjustments are needed.
- Train and coach employees on pallet specifications, repair standards, sorting requirements, quality expectations, and safe work practices.
- Hold employees accountable for following established processes and expectations.
- Support employees in resolving day-to-day operational challenges.
- Promote teamwork, communication, accountability, and respect throughout the operation.
- Keep the Supervisor informed of production, quality, safety, staffing, and customer-related concerns.

Leadership Expectation
The Pallet Repair Lead is expected to be a hands-on leader who understands that quality, safety, productivity, and customer service are directly connected. The Lead must be willing to identify issues, make appropriate corrections, communicate concerns, and help provide solutions before those issues negatively impact the customer or the operation.
Most importantly, the Lead is expected to lead by example and demonstrate the same level of accountability, safety, quality, and work ethic expected from every member of the team.
