The Warehouse Put Away/ Picker is to put received freight into appropriate storage locations and to pull select items from storage location and ready them for shipment. This position is on the night crew, 6:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Responsible for unpacking and verify bar codes can be scanned or make labels to be scanned.
- Directs bar code label printing and application as required for inventory control.
- Verifies quantities and checks for damage or mislabeling.
- Operates motorized equipment, such as order picker or forklifts to stock the items.
- Transfers items from the receiving bins to the primary and overstock bins.
- Utilizes handheld scanners for put-away functions to update inventory records.
- List all overages and shortages on the Receiving Discrepancy report.
- Conducts and documents bin audits as required and submits it to the Inventory Control Office.
- Ensures all received items are correctly put away within established timelines.
- Receives the pick for the sales orders and enters the orders into system for wave picking for efficient picking purposes and locates the products using technology.
- Retrieves items for the orders from the bins according to priority, quantity or size as required.
- Utilizes RF scanners for picking all items and transfers all items from the stocking bins to the shipping bin.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Abilities:
· High school diploma
· Previous experience in customer relationships
· Strong listening and verbal communication skills
· Maintain a positive attitude and focus on customer service in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively by setting priorities.
· Have a strong sense of situational awareness to be able to prioritize tasks.
· Willingness and desire to learn about the products sold, customer service, policies, and procedures as well as the trucking industry as a whole.
