The Warehouse Security Guard is responsible for protecting the facility, employees, visitors, equipment, inventory, and property. This position performs standard security duties, monitors activity throughout the premises, controls access, responds to security or safety concerns, and conducts frequent foot patrols of the warehouse and surrounding property.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor and secure entrances, exits, gates, and other access points.
Verify the identity and authorization of employees, visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel as required.
Conduct frequent and routine foot patrols throughout the warehouse, offices, parking areas, exterior perimeter, and other designated areas.
Observe and report suspicious activity, unauthorized individuals, safety hazards, security violations, and unusual conditions.
Maintain a visible security presence throughout the facility.
Respond appropriately to alarms, disturbances, emergencies, accidents, and other incidents.
Prepare clear and accurate daily activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other security equipment when assigned.
Enforce facility security policies, procedures, and access-control requirements.
Assist with directing visitors, vendors, and delivery personnel in accordance with site procedures.
Report damaged doors, gates, fencing, lighting, or other conditions that may compromise facility security.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, warehouse management, employees, law enforcement, and emergency personnel when necessary.
Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to conduct frequent foot patrols throughout a large warehouse facility and surrounding property.
Ability to climb stairs and navigate indoor and outdoor areas.
Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions when performing exterior patrols.
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or security incidents.
Qualifications
Previous security, warehouse, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred, but not required.
Ability to remain alert, observant, professional, and calm in routine and emergency situations.
Strong communication and report-writing skills.
Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and instructions.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
Must meet all applicable licensing, background check, and training requirements.
Work Environment
This position involves working in an active warehouse environment and may require regular exposure to noise, vehicle traffic, loading and shipping operations, varying temperatures, and outdoor conditions. Frequent walking and foot patrols are an essential function of the position.
