    Description

    Position Summary

    The Warehouse Shift Lead provides hands‑on leadership and direction to warehouse team members during assigned shifts. This role supports daily warehouse operations by assigning work, monitoring productivity, reinforcing safety standards, and serving as a role model for performance and behavior. The Warehouse Shift Lead assists supervisory staff with training, coaching, equipment oversight, and process improvement while ensuring orders are processed accurately, safely, and on time.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities

    The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title; however, employees may perform other related duties:

    • Assign daily tasks to warehouse team members and ensure work is completed efficiently and according to operational priorities
    • Provide on‑the‑floor leadership, guidance, and support to team members throughout the shift
    • Assist in evaluating staff performance and provide input for performance reviews and development discussions
    • Cover for the Shift Supervisor during absences as assigned
    • Promote and support warehouse safety programs and initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations; participate in safety meetings and accident‑prevention activities
    • Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
    • Monitor warehouse activities and correct unsafe or non‑compliant behaviors through coaching and training
    • Monitor customer orders being processed and prepared for shipment using the Material Handling Guide to ensure accuracy and quality
    • Identify errors or inefficiencies on the warehouse floor and provide corrective coaching as needed
    • Educate team members on product knowledge, handling requirements, and process expectations
    • Review daily Raymond and forklift inspections to confirm equipment is maintained in safe operating condition
    • Assist in identifying, recommending, and implementing cost‑effective and time‑saving process improvements
    • Encourage team member involvement in continuous improvement initiatives
    • Assist management in establishing operational goals and productivity standards to maximize team performance
    • Support cross‑training and job enrichment initiatives to build workforce flexibility and skill depth
    • Help update team members on changes in procedures, regulations, or operational requirements

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent required

    Experience/Skills/Abilities Required

    • Minimum of four years of warehouse or manufacturing experience
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities
    • Ability to lead by example and work effectively with diverse teams
    • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations
    • Professional appearance and conduct

    Work Environment/Physical Demands

    Typical warehouse environment with moderate noise levels. Regularly required standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds.
