Warehouse Specialist
Purpose Statement
The job of Warehouse Specialist is responsible for supporting the overall operation of the Central Warehouse to include, but not limited to oversight and coordination of workflow and activities of the department. Efficiently expedite shipping and receiving, verifying stock and identifying losses of all materials and supplies for Laramie County School District #1.
This job reports to Warehouse, Graphics, and Mailroom Supervisor

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in warehouse operations; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: business telephone etiquette; safety practices and procedures; inventory control systems; UPS, RPS, mail, and freight industry regulations and procedures; material management; word processing; and spreadsheet applications.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a few factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; organize; use time efficiently and physical stamina; and the ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator. Ability to give attention to detail is a must.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job''s functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization's services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job''s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 35% walking, and 15% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Minimum of five years' experience in stockroom, warehouse, and educational background in the field of inventory control. Formal training or college credits in Material Management or Business will be considered in lieu of experience.
Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area. Minimum of high school education or equivalent. Two years post-secondary education preferred.
