Job Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a food-grade warehouse, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, storage, sanitation, and employee performance. This position ensures the safe and efficient movement of products while maintaining compliance with all food safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards. The Warehouse Supervisor leads warehouse personnel, monitors productivity, enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and maintains a clean, organized, and audit-ready facility. This role works closely with operations, quality assurance, transportation, and customer service teams to ensure accurate inventory management, on-time shipments, and exceptional customer satisfaction while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training of warehouse associates.

• Develop, implement, and maintain warehouse processes, procedures, and work instructions to ensure operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance.

• Monitor labor utilization, productivity, and staffing levels to align workforce resources with operational requirements.

• Lead daily startup meetings to communicate safety topics, operational priorities, customer requirements, and performance expectations.

• Ensure all associates are properly trained, certified, and qualified to operate equipment and perform assigned job functions safely and effectively.

• Investigate, document, and follow up on accidents, injuries, product damage, inventory discrepancies, and operational incidents.

• Maintain warehouse organization and housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, safe, and audit-ready facility.

• Coordinate daily activities with customer service, transportation, production, quality assurance, maintenance, and other departments to support efficient operations.

• Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, inventory accuracy, shipping accuracy, safety performance, quality metrics, and customer service levels.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance.

• Ensure proper utilization, inspection, and maintenance of warehouse equipment, material handling equipment, racking systems, dock equipment, and facility assets.

• Support customer audits, regulatory inspections, food safety audits, and internal compliance reviews.

• Review and approve employee timekeeping, attendance records, scheduling, and vacation requests.

• Develop employee skills through coaching, mentoring, cross-training, performance evaluations, and career development initiatives.

• Maintain security and accountability of inventory, equipment, facilities, and company assets.

• Establish and maintain performance standards while driving accountability and a culture of continuous improvement throughout the operation.

• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Warehousing Practices (GWP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and housekeeping requirements outlined in the Master Sanitation Schedule.

• Follow and enforce all food safety, quality, and operational programs to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

• Maintain knowledge of and support compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies, OSHA regulations, FDA requirements, food safety standards, and environmental regulations.

• Manage inventory control activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliation, and root cause analysis of inventory variances.

• Oversee inbound and outbound shipping operations to ensure timely receipt, storage, and shipment of products while meeting customer service expectations.

• Support warehouse startup activities, layout planning, racking implementation, process development, and operational readiness initiatives as required.

Qualifications

• Five years of warehouse experience within a food processing, manufacturing, or distribution environment preferred.

• Five years of shipping and receiving experience preferred.

• Experience with food-grade warehouse operations preferred.

• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF Smart, and inventory control processes preferred.

• Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Warehousing Practices (GWPs), HACCP, SQF, FDA regulations, and food safety standards preferred.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and documentation requirements.

• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of commercial food processing and food packaging equipment is beneficial.

• Forklift certification or ability to become certified preferred.

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.

• Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including refrigerated areas when required.

• Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.

Leads: Warehouse Leads, Associates and Material Handlers during assigned shifts.
