Title: Warehouse Team Lead

Avondale Global Gateway is a 254-acre former shipyard on Mile 108 of the Mississippi River, redeveloped into a multimodal logistics terminal with significant warehousing and storage capabilities. T. Parker Host acquired Avondale in 2018 from Huntington Ingalls Industries and has since reestablished its iconic prominence into a model of ingenuity. Avondale Global Gateway is a historic property with four docks and over one mile of waterfront, uniquely accommodating ships, barges, rail and trucks. This facility offers immediate access to the regional and interstate highway system and is positioned at the interchange of six Class I railroads, creating the ability for cargo to be distributed in all directions.

Position Summary: In this position, the Warehouse Team Lead will oversee and coordinate all workers engaged in the warehousing operations for loading and discharging of break-bulk and project cargo for vessels, rail and truck drivers. In addition, will cross train and learn about other bespoke operations in order to support peak days inside the terminal.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Advocates for proper safety through communication, administration, and compliance with all safety, operating, environmental and business procedures/standards, policies and management directives
Daily operations meetings
Oversee gang structuring and ensure efficiency
Safety meetings before every shift
Observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
In depth knowledge of warehousing operations (inventory management, FIFO, LIFO, etc.)
Work closely with terminal employees to ensure product transfers are completed in a safe and timely manner
Develops skills of workers to stimulate a stronger/safer labor force
Promotes teamwork and communication throughout the warehousing operation
Serve as a point of contact for shift-level issues and escalate as needed
Coordinate daily workflow for receiving, picking, packing, staging, and shipping
Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time
Monitor productivity, labor utilization, and workflow efficiency
Identify hazards and report or correct unsafe conditions
Document incidents, attendance, and operational concerns as required
Collaborate with other departments (transportation, customer service, maintenance)
Utilize WMS and DC systems to track productivity, inventory, and order status
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as pick rates, dock-to-stock, and ship accuracy
Supervises workers engaged in checking and loading cargo to make sure that cargo is loaded in specified sequence in accordance with shipping instructions
Perform other duties as assigned
